If you can show me numbers that show the GT is faster than the C6 ZR1 which was a response to the GT, please do...or you can go look at the Nurburgring numbers and 1/4 mile times for yourself.
As far as the reason for the cost...it's a rare car (~3400 produced), unlike the ZR1 which is still in production...so I'd take that with a grain of salt.

The ZR1 came out 3 years after the GT ceased production. . . at the time of the GT's production the Z06 was the fastest GM production vehicle. The Nurburgring lap time for the GT was done by a magazine
