GM's pushrod, OHV engines are proven over time. They are some of the most durable engines at any price and perform well enough. Does the 6.2L 16V perform on a hp/displacement ratio as well as the Boss 302 which is 5.0L? No. But 426 hp is fine for a n/a V8. The Boss, and even the GT have more advanced technology in their engines, but sometimes a big, pushrod bully that will run forever is all you need. Now, if the DOHC engines continue to progress in output, GM may have to reconsider using a 7.0L 16V engine. Personally, I thought their 5.7L was the best engine GM made. The ones in cars from the 1990's are still on the road today. We won't know about Ford's 5.0 for a while yet. GM's 6.2 is fine...for now. But it is significant Ford made a stock GT for 30,000 that is every bit as fast as a Camaro SS. That has never been the case before.
