Maybe it's the fact that you really are speeding and you admitted to it?
On the flip side, I was going 25 in a 25 zone in 2nd gear in a previous car that had an axle-back exhaust and I was told several times to slow down too! I'm all like WTF, I'm doing the speed limit so bite me! LOL
