I am told it is not good for the car, but my thought is why would the manual say it is okay when it is not. Then he proceeded to talk about how the manual says to change your fluids at 100,000 miles and then he said he changed his a 8,000 miles.

Question when should I change my fluids?
Depends. I mean we still stick to a 3,000 mile oil change interval even though we know we don't have to. It's just a routine.

Depending on what fluids you're talking about, it usually doesn't hurt to change early but the interval he's talking about is a little extreme.

And the cars are tuned to run 87. It's perfectly fine.
