My first car was a '97 Pontiac Sunfire Coupe. I bought it for $1,700 August of last year, and my parents sold it for $200 in March of this year.

It had a piston rod knocking, and needed a new motor. Instead of letting me buy a new motor off of eBay ($400), and letting me and a friend of mine go about 40 miles away to pick it up ($50) and having my school shop teacher swap the motors ($250), my parent decided to sell it.

I had the money saved up, and was ready to buy it. I came home from school one day (the car had been sitting for a week or so, because Dad didnt want me to drive it, because he was afraid of me blowing the motor, so I had to ride the bus), and there were 2 dudes loading my pride and joy onto a flat bed (a picture of what I saw is attached below). I was confused. I had no clue about plans to sell it. When they told me they sold it for only $200 (that they kept) I was ticked.

The money I had saved up to do the motor swap and such, went into the cost of buying the New Yorker I drive now (which was $1000). I guess they didnt realize that it would have been cheaper to just let go through with my plan. If they did realize it, they wouldn't be shelling out money to fix this one up (over $3500 so far [new tranny, new brakes, new radiator, new exhaust system, new hood supports, and soon another set of brakes]).

I miss my Sunfire
