The year the G8 hit the market (2008) coincided with the highest average fuel prices ever recorded in the U.S. GM was headed into bankruptcy and the entire economy was headed into recession. 2008/2009 were not only the worst years for GM on record but the entire auto industry was being hurt by the recession and collapse of the housing market. Pontiac sold 15,000 in 2008 (Mar-Dec) and 23,000 in 2009. Chevrolet plans to sell 1/4 of this.
The g8 had a full line and was not special order. the comparable G8, the GXP onl;ye sold around 2000 units total.......
