I stopped playing for a couple years & started back up a few months ago. They've kept improving things and its better than I remember it being. They've ditched the 3 tier system and now have 6 classes: E, D, C, B, A, and S but driver skill can usually make up for one class level. There is a decent rotation of cars you can buy for in game cash. Not as many races are available as there used to be but that means that there are often more people available for each individual race. And there are still about 20 that are open at any given time. Money is easier to earn than ever, and experience (in the XP points sense) seems to mean absolutely nothing now. So its no longer a such a grind fest to get that car you wanted. If you've got the cash (and they sell if for in-game-cash) you can buy it.

They also have an achievement system that rewards you for doing various achievementy things (get 5 minutes of airtime, paint your car 10 times, buy __ number of cars, etc) that give you cash, power ups, parts, or cars when you earn them.
