In my hometown there was this winding out of the way road that had two big hills that we called "the tits" that you could get some really good air on. It was hard to get a lot of speed up because it was a dirt road and it had a lot of turns before you got to the hills. I was on my way home from school and was driving my Subaru RX. It was turbocharged, 4 wheel drive and had a beefed-up suspension from the factory. I decided to take a couple of my friends with me and made sure they kinda balanced my car out with their seating positions. I put it in 4 wheel drive and nailed the gas pedal and went as fast as I could down that dirt road. I went over those hills at about 80. Looking to my right I was so high actually saw the powerlines right next to me. Looking to my left I saw the Town Constable at the sewer treatment plant looking right at me with his jaw dropped. He started running for his truck. When I finally landed I thought I lost my rear axle, but I just broke the bolts on my seat and it had tiilted way back and i got some little dimples in my hood from the struts traveling up and hitting it. I quickly dropped my friend off and got home as quick as I could before the Constable was able to catch up with me. I told my mom that my car wasn't running right and drove her car for a week. The constable came to the hardware store I worked at every day and I wanted to give him time to forget my car. He never did figure out who it was that day. My windshield cracked about a week later, but other than that the car seemed okay. Man, I was really crazy back then. My friend told me that people had money on how long I would live cuz I drove so fast all the time. A 2nd gen Firebird Formula was the only car to ever beat me in a race with that car. I am such a safe, defensive driver now. I'm glad I made it through those reckless years.
