I think it is so amazing that our malicious press can so easily forget the horrible accusations and settlements against the King of Pop.

He was a talented artist. His work deserves to be remembered. I think it is an ethical dilemma that Michael Jackson, an entertainer, is more memorable to us all than those who have defended our freedom, written our laws, or been good to their families. On one hand, the latter 3 instances are far more common, and an artist influences us all in so many ways. On the other hand, Michael Jackson lived a lavish lifestyle completely separated from reality, placed on a pedestal and praised for talents that some would argue do not contribute to the welfare of the people who showed up to his concerts.

I'm torn on Michael Jackson. I find that he does not fit any of the molds we have placed around him. He wasn't quite a menace to society, but he certainly had some questionable tendencies. He was a brilliant performer, but was he worthy of such a large following?
