You know what guys? I went to the Comic Con a few weeks ago, and seeing all these people dress up (I was not) made me appreciate a different section of society who enjoys building costumes (some take a year to make). Some costumes were lame, some were pretty amazing.

After that experience, I look at these cars and realize that some people just like a certain look. There's a difference between faking performance parts, and just having an arty look for fun. Some of these cars in this thread are clearly the latter. I think the first pic with the plumbing pipes looks like a joke car made by a student to get a laugh from his friends. The car in the link of post #15 looks like an art project to me.

Clearly the people at the Comic Con don't think they have a functioning laser gun, they're just dressing up and enjoying themselves, and I think some people don't give a rats ass about performance, they just like a certain look. As long as they're not faking it with badges I think I'm quite happy to enjoy their work of art. I think the author of the article about the Dodge with the hoses sticking out of the fender just doesn't get it.
