Obviously you have never been in a situation even close to this. Anybody coming toward your car with a hammer in his hand is also coming toward YOU with that hammer. Like I said before, you've got less time to decide whether the perp has sheetmetal damage or skull fracture in mind than it took you to read this.

All good provided that you have an escape route. But even getting yourself and your car clear without damage still doesn't alter the fact that you were clearly at risk of severe bodily harm. I hope you wouldn't wait to get hit with that hammer before deciding that the target might really be you personally.
