Somebody may correct me if I am wrong but it has been a while since I had to worry about bell housings.
Chris wasn't there a difference in the BB and SB bell housings as well in the BOP pattern? seems to me there was I cannot remember.
The 1974 Buick 455 that I yanked out of a Riviera bolted right up to the original TH350 in my '70 Buick; that car originally had a Buick 350 that needed the top end redone. It was cheaper to buy an entire car just for the engine and transplant it! Buick didn't really have a 'big block' and a 'small block' per se, they didn't really worry about that, although the parts don't interchange. Incidentally, nothing is a swap on the Buick Olds or Pontiac 455s either. GM practically burned money in those days

My 455 engine inflicted bloody murder on my TH350 of course, but it bolted up with no problems
