seems like they would of come up with an overlay or a coating you could put on the glass to clear up the display....simulate whats in the windshield.
I think most people who have had it would say its awesome, most who never had would say they don't need it....
I remember for years my dad saying paying for power locks was stupid, you didn't need them...but today since they come with the car for the most part, he wouldn't want to do without them.....
as stated before, most people are getting along fine without some things, and don't look at the advantages to new things sometimes, all they are looking at it the few extra $'s it cost....
in my mind it offers alot in safety and convenience....you never have to take your eyes of the road, and it doesn't take long to get used to it so your not focusing exclusively on it, I think it took me like 30 minutes to get there.
But I would go with the cost savings as to why they aren't going to offer it...its not always direct savings and it doesn't matter if the actual item costs them that much to install....
I mean take the Camaro, you usually get something like this with a package...
so to make things easy, Ill use numbers I pulled out my rear, say you get the RS package for $5000, and the HUD is included. The HUD costs GM $1500 to install over non HUD. If they remove the HUD as an option, they aren't going to reduce how much the RS package costs, it has other things, so they will still charge $5000 for an RS package, but they will in one swell swoop save/make $1500 for every car they sell with the upgrade over what they used to make, and not increase the line item cost for themselves at all.
You might even say they are ripping the customer off by charging the same they used to for less actual items, but that's economics and market bearing.......
