Everyone's body is different, some people look at food and gain weight, some can add a little exercise and loose easily but food choices are not made just to loose or gain weight, eating right has health benefits as well. Look at it like this, food is to your body like gas is to your car. You can fill your tank with low grade gas and it will still run but it will run much better on high test.
