Unfortunately, there are way too many "armchair CEOs" out there who think they know exactly what's best for the company. Then, there's two extremes, the ones who are "car guys" and think every single car needs to have its own platform, drivetrain, interior, and not share a single body panel, then there's the bean counters who want to simplify everything in the name of profit.
Both extremes don't work well, and both would run GM into the ground if given the chance.
