I say CamaroSkooter is right to be unhappy. This bombing thing is not the first instance of this type of thing either. Example: for years now, mayors etc have been giving power to Police Chiefs to do certain things that constitutionally and legally they have no authority to do. They have the
power to do them now, and power and authority aren't the same.
He should be afraid of just how far we're going and you should too. I don't want my god-daughter growing up in a USA were it's normal to be treated like a criminal until proven innocent, and we're on that path now. Small steps yes I agree, hardly left the main road yes. But still the same path.
It's OK and right for a US citizen to say : hey cops and government. Thanks for apprehending this monster. But maybe we can agree that we can do this thing better next time. Here's what I don't like about how we had to handle it this time, and I need you to listen, because we're forming tomorrow's USA today, you and me.
And maybe we'll find there is no better way. Maybe we're in a place from where we can't escape it, because of how screwy the world is now and we'll just have to deal. But I feel it's a huge mistake to just say "OK, do whatever its cool". It will be cool until its not, and will it be too late? Nobody can know, so I say it's right to ask the questions now: can we do this better, and how.
