I'm sure those friendly "inspection" warnings are legit.......the handwriting is nothing to be suspect of, the last half a dozen new rookies I have trained have God awful handwriting, as a matter a fact I think my 10 yr old has better handwriting. It seems to be a trend, as more and more things are computerized the less emphasis there is on writing well/neatly. I don't think they even teach cursive writing anymore. I had to teach both my kids how to sign their names.

As far as police and quotas............... could it be happening somewhere in the country......sure..... however, as someone said they are illegal. I heard a few deputies in CA sued over being told they had to write a certain number of tickets and they won millions over it. This was a few years ago.
My dept doesn't make us write any certain amount, but I put it this way..... at the end of the shift/ or month you better have something to articulate your time on the road..........whether it be the amount of complaints you handled or contacts you had...you still have to show your admin that you are out there doing something or you end up without a job. Plus, they tell us especially with speeding to reduce all but the most flagrant violations down to the minimum fine/speed.
