Too many times, criminals are given probation and a fine for whatever crimes they have done. Does that teach a lesson? Pay your city X amount of dollars and don't do it again? Um...no. Not a freaking chance. These guys KNOW what they are doing and they KNOW the system. They even have funds set up within their gangs, families, etc to pay for their bail so they can get right back out and do it all over again. Ask me how I know this.... The only way criminals are ever going to learn is if they do the actual time they are sentenced to. A one year sentence SHOULD be one year. It shouldn't be 2 months and hey, ...we need the extra room for the other bad guys.
Our city has doubled in size over the last 15 years. DOUBLED. Our prison system? Hasn't changed. No new prisons, same old jail... How can we punish those who commit crimes now. Build more prisons? That's what I think... Teach them that the system can't be jacked with and the actual harsher punishment will make them think twice.
AAAAAAnnnnd 2, government assistance. When people know how the system works, they squeeze every drop out of it that they can. It's a mother freaking joke. Again, ask me how I know this.
We need to quit handing out free money and start making people work for it. if they don't want to work, fug'em. I'm sick of watching people use Lone Star cards (gov't asst cards supposed to be used for FOOD) to pay for people's GASOLINE and CIGARETTES. Again, ask me how I know.
Our system IS jacked up. But, it can be fixed. The only problem? No one gives a shit who is IN office now to actually fix it the RIGHT way.
