As far as the difference between qualities of gasoline from a mom and pop store vs Chevron, I've heard there is a difference. Similar to what Mindz was saying. However, I could not tell you any facts relating to this. But, I have been told of mom and pop stores that falsify their pumped gallon measurements so the gallon you think you got, was actually 13/14th's of a gallon....all for .10 cents cheaper...making it look like you got the better deal.

diifferent gas stations will have slightly different gas, but the actual stuff you are gettin is not going to be drastically better than any others. im sure if you wanted to do the research, some pump stations use older model tanks that allow water to get into the fuel supply.
like tag said, i wont use Shell either. as far as the OP comment about how one station is offering Premium for 10 cents less than BP, thats just economics. everyone wants to buy the cheap crap. by that i mean 87 or 89 octane gas. there by causing the gas stations to have to buy more of it and run the price up more. i get premium cheaper than regular a lot of times cus no one wants to buy it at the higher price so they sell out of the lower quality gas, then they have no choice but to lower the price for premium
