the first monte came out in '70, and they had big blocks, too, so it will fit in there... I believe the '70-'77 models all had the same engine bay, but different bodies... all the Impalas up until the changeover in '77 could handle a big block... the first Impala was the '58 model, so there's about 20 years of big block capability in those, too.
