weather or not its "relatively inexpensive" (relative to what?) its still money that could be better served some where else; namely the product being advertised. if the products (cars in this case) were built better to begin with then the manufactures would need to spend as much money on advertising. it just seems to me that they overcompensate with these elaborate commercials all while the quality of the product diminishes due to lack of funding...

Well look at what happened to the g8. Perfect car, all around. But the advertizing sucked, so the sales sucked. Thats the biggest problem GM has right now, every car they make either leads or is extremely competitive in its segment; but almost no one in the general public has any idea of what GM is doing. If people don't know you're making great cars, they don't have a reason to go buy one.
