Uh, what? I'm an '80s kid, too, but have you actually watched the original Transformers cartoon? Or any of those old cartoons? I watched the entirety of the G1 series last year (bought it on DVD) and it's all pretty painful to watch.
Just like how we of that general age hold the original Star Wars movies as excellent movies. If you go back and watch them today (Empire aside), they're not
that much better than the new trilogy. Just because we thought it was good as a kid doesn't mean it was good in the long run...
