You want the Galaxy S III. Open source is always better than closed. Apple is very limiting in what you can do compared to the sandbox that is Android. This is not say Apple sucks or is horrible or whatever, if you don't mind not being able to tweak your phone or generally get to play with it then iphone 5 is good. The S III, however, even if you don't plan on flashing it or doing anything has more processing power, flash memory, and has 300+ pixels per square inch (which is more important than the actual resolution really, it's like flywheel vs rwhp haha). The iphone 5 has a slightly higher ppi, but past 300 it is indistinguishable to the human eye unless you make a significant jump to ~400+ ppi. I will say the Iphone has a nicer color balance, the S III seems too vibrant for my taste.
There is a jail break for the iphone 5 that just came out too so you know. But it's like tuning the V8's, you can kiss any warranty or help from your provider or Apple goodbye because it will be seen. On the S III as with most droids, you can flash back to stock and be ok.
As far as features, EVERYTHING the apple does, a GS III can do as well. The only marginal exception is Siri BUT you can download apps that talk back if that's what you want. Other wise the Google Voice search is often more accurate than Siri (it just doesn't generally speak, I think if you ask to define something it might). Everything the S III, apple may not be able to do and this goes back to being open source, there are more people doing more things with less restrictions on the droid.
Obviously I'm biased to droid, but I tried to give an objective little comparison without just bashing the iphone.
PS: the Z10 won't be out for another month so I doubt that is a good option. Hardware wise, it would be a top tier phone had it been released last year.... The delay has unfortunately pushed the Z10's specs to mid tier now. Which is not bad at all. i'm rocking an HTC Rezound and it's a mid tier phone now. Personally, I'm waiting on the Google X, the S 4, or the HTC M7.
Also, consider the Motorola RAZR MAXX. Battery last 2 days+, water, shock, and dust resistant.
Or the Nexus 4, a true Google phone with Google Now, big G's answer to Siri and I can say it is AWESOME. I own the Nexus 7 and Google now takes a step beyond Siri, you don't ask it things as so much it tells you. It does look into your Google searches and look through your gmail (a little creepy) but then keeps you up to date on recent searches if they change (like stocks, football games, travel time, etc). If you order something online and receive a tracking code, Google now automatically tracks it.
