What do you want to use them for? For instance, there are compact versions for all of them, but if you're ok having a full sized pistol, I would get a 1911 for the 45. They are excellent weapons. However ballistic gel data for a .40 and a 45 are very similar. 1911's typically have only 8 round mags standard, but the 40 will have a larger cap mag standard. Also, 45's like the XD are generally polymer handguns, where the 1911 is not. Just a couple examples.
So what's the use? Target shooting? Looking for something to concealed carry? Home defense? Lots of things to think about  |
