Well the whole thing is a little silly. I think it was more irritating that it wasn't the couple who lived there that called the cops. The couple (in the truck) acknowledged what I was doing and the man just kind of nodded at me. It was someone else entirely that called the cops. When I was growing up, we would get the neighbor's mail pretty often, so I didn't think anything about putting the mail when it belonged. It was broad daylight, there were people outside, it was like 2 blocks down, and I was just casually strolling down there.
What's more sad, is that this is the society we live in. I've had the cops called on me for a noise complaint one time, at like 5 in the afternoon (stereo outside by the pool too loud). Why people can't just come over and ask me to turn it down just blows my mind. Lesson learned though. Stop trying to do nice things for people
