I trust Subaru more than any other Japanese car company on these types of things. Yes the Evo has always done its job very well, so Mitsu deserves their kudos as well, but when it all goes down I'd rather be in an STi than an Evo.
Hate to break this, but if the car does turn into an STi variant, their is no way its going to stay at under 2900lbs. The 300/300 boxer engine from the STi line is too much for that car without some sort of reinforcement. They put the more powerful engine in there and you'll see the weight grow. Even so it'd end up looking like an RX-8 with a 300hp engine.... mmmmmm....

True, but as odd as it sounds, I would rather have the regular toyota version than the STI version. Yeah, the STI will perform better, but the initial d fanboy in me would much rather buy the toyota and fix it up myself. So the extra weight on the STI model doesn't concern me
