The Giant Snakehead
What's so scary about a this fish? Well, they have their top predators with a voracious appetite for live fish that they rip to shreds with their teeth, they can live on land for up to 3-4 days (their amphibious), they will attack humans, and forget about trying to keep one captive, they'll break free. Oh yeh, and they breed like crazy. I didn't even know they existed til watching NG tonight where they had a whole special dedicated to the fish. The Snakehead is actually NOT an indigenous species, they were smuggled from China for food consumption and some ended up being released into local waters throughout the northeast, south and apparently here in the west. We have Northern Snakeheads stateside throughout MD, VA, NC, SC and supposedly even CA? The latter I find hard to believe but apparently it's true. They're an invasive species threatening to overwhelm local aquatic habitats but as they breed so quickly their population numbers are hard to control. Freaky as hell, I hope I don't run into one.
