clinically diagnosed insomniac here. diagnosed when I was 13. My father was too.
I'm up 16-20 hours a day, my sleep schedule is 4-6 hours depending on the day, been that way for 30 years, and I function just fine.
My kid is starting to show signs of it as well at age 8, she can function on 6 hours of sleep better than most people do with 8-10. Doesn't fall asleep in class, and has a ton of energy all the time, getting her to stop and actually sleep is a chore in of itself.
