I totally understand your reasoning (don't nessicarily agree, but understand) on your post EXCEPT in this part. The demographic for the vette is far older than a Camaro. My dealer himself told me when I ordered my Camaro and he saw my Vette (2000 C5, Z51, 6 speed) he would never take it on trade in because he can't move a car like that and they rarely sell stick vettes unless they are ordered due to the demographic. Plus I would get more for it on ebay anyway.
Basically my point is its Auto Vettes don't sell more cause they are as fast or faster, they sell more because the average customer is 50+ and many are past the age that they need to have a stick to enjoy the car. (no offense to the 50+ crowd, I'm just talking averages of the general pubic here!).

As for the main post... *****!
J/k
I prefer a manual because I just enjoy that mechanical connection to the car. It bothers my knee sometimes, (esp in traffic) but I feel its a small price to pay. Plus Ive raced cars for years so I am pretty good with squeezing every last bit of performance out of it, double clutching and so on, so it just feels faster

and sometimes that SOTP feel is all you need. That double clutch downshift and rev in a tunnel, etc... its exciting!
