I have to agree the 1911's are great guns, get a cleaning kit and spend some time on youtube learning how to dissemble and maintain it, then get to modding
Side note: it's important you get something that's comfortable for you to hold/shoot, I know some people dislike the 1911's due to their size and recoil. I highly suggest you find a range that will rent you guns so you can test them out. If you have money to burn get a kimber 1911 imo.
