The EV-1 was destroyed and GM produced the H2 in it's place. The oil companies control a lot of the automotive industry.
Anyhow, the Volt has gotten the go ahead from GM and will be built in the United States and Australia. The production version will look nothing like this and the vehicle should be available as a 2011 model.
