Well, this news is surprising to me, but I'm kind of glad to see GM reacting. The bad part is that they ever had to react in the first place.

I don't dislike the Malibu, but I've always felt even since its release it seemed it just wasn't given the 100% effort that it should have been. It might have been at or near the top of its class on the day of its release overall (it still had some shortcomings even then) but it was plain to see it would be midpack at best by the next year. Shame on GM for not jumping way ahead of the competition at release, so the Malibu would remain competitive with this new generation of family sedans.

As far as the interior...I may be in the minority but I like it. Miss-mash of colors and all. I for one, will take a two+ tone interior over "black on black" any day of the week and then some. Too much of one tone is just boring to me.

Probably too late for GM to make any serious performance or mileage improvements with this car without going full bore and introducing a new drivetrain, but I like the ideas here of changing seat design somewhat for more rear leg room.

Heres hoping GM can make some attractive exterior changes instead of "ho hum" again.
