Think about that for a second. The Veyron cannot go that fast, and it cannot reach it's top speed in 1 mile. American muscle FTW.
I think American's should be proud - the Europeans are arrogant. They think they build the best cars, but pound for pound (or rather dollar for dollar) - the best cars are made in North America.

The Veyron Super Sport has an official top speed of 267. Plus, you are comparing a modified car (built for the single purpose of reaching maximum speed) to a stock production car. I'm no fan of the Veyron, but comparing stock to modified is a giant facepalm in my books.
If you want to champion an American ultra-high speed car, go for the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo. At least it beat the Veyron for the title of worlds fastest car (until the Super Sport came out). It still could be the fastest car, as the theoretical top speed of the UA TT is 273 mph -they've just never got around to retesting it for reasons I'm not quite sure of.
