Let me put it this way...would it surprise you if Sylvester Stallone really thinks he's a tough guy? Or if Robin Williams really acts like a lunatic in person offstage? When people found out what a psycho Mel Gibson really is it didn't shock anyone considering the characters he has played so well.
When people put out a believable performance to the public you have to understand their ability to portray something that good comes from more than just talent. They are doing more than variations on a theme or stereotype. They get all the little things perfectly and THAT girl is definitely whacked.
