To me, hearing someone refer to their 2010 Camaro's transmission as "the 6 speed" sounds exactly like someone who calls their engine a V4. They known V6 and V8 refers to 6 and 8 cylinder engine, so they think they just always add "V" to the cylinder count. So they really aren't saying anything, but they think they do because they know one small smidgen of half-information and made a false assumption.

Your argument makes no sense because no one is saying "six speed" (singular as you use it) but rather pointing out that their camaro is a "6 speed manual" transmission. As for your quaint v-engine remarks,if you really know what your talking about, you call them by their correct definition, but perhaps its because of your incorrect sentence struture that I don't understand your point.
