The ZL1 is the absolute top of the Camaro price range, though. $50k is the bargain basement starting point of the Tesla. A conventional car will also last twice as long under normal conditions as the batteries in the Tesla, so if you want to compare price based on longevity, you really have to equate a $50k electric car to a $100k conventional car.
And it's not that it's electric that it bothers me. Ultimately, I don't like COTY being given to very low volume, exclusive, boutique cars. What's the point of declaring a COTY that almost no one will be able to get? I had the same opinion a few years ago when the GT-R got the award.
