I've been on the waiting list, deposit and all for several years, was supposed to be 2012, then 2013, last notice I got was 2014 for my bid number..
not a big deal to me, as it will be the wife's new car, and she is currently content with her Camry and since I already bought the Camaro this year, I don't need another car payment just yet..
But if it is going to receive accolades at the very least it should be in full swing production.
and before I get flamed for the whole electric car thing:
My wife drives a total of about 10 - 15 miles a day, she is a home maker and shuttle driver for our daughter and all her after school activities, so a hybrid or electric car suits her fine as she never gets on a highway/freeway or goes above 40mph. Her car is basically a grocery getter and taxi cab.
We have Solar Generation on our house, so the purchase of a pure electric vehicle is ideal for us, as it would never actually cost us anything to charge/run insofar as "fuel" is concerned.
Why not a volt? because it is too small to suit our needs.

There's tons of model s vehicles around NorCal, there's at least 15 or 20 sitting on the local Tesla lot. I think they are mass produced at this point, at least for 2 months now.
