Agreed. I get that they wanted the last few races more important, since in the past you could have the championship locked away with 2 or 3 races to go. But if anything, they've made the end of the season less important.
The focus is now solely on the top drivers winning the championship. Before the chase, there was a lot more focus on your driver doing well that weekend and whether he moved up in points -whether he was 5th or 25th. Now, Nascar has decreed that only a handful are important. Everybody else is essentially just field filler. And once a driver is out of contention for the championship people these days seem to lose interest altogether.
