I had the privilege of commanding a tank company with over 100 soldiers (when you include all attachements: medics, mechanics, infantry, engineers, air defense, etc.) during the initial push into Iraq in 2003 (phase I and II). Thankfully I didn't lose a single soldier - I can't imagine having to bury a comrade. God bless all those who made the ultimate sacrifice, let us not forget.

Toughest physically: freezing my ass off on Ft. Hood guarding equipment while all the POGs got taken back in busses because of the weather. We only ever took our outer 2 shells of our sleeping bags so needless to say we froze. Iced over sleeping bags cracking (literally) when we had to go to our shift.
Toughest mentally: Any of the multi day missions on OIF. Nothing worse than a stressful situation and a lack of sleep.
