how old were you when you became a grand-parent?

I'm 44 and my wife is 52 and we have an 8 year old daughter, that's it, no other kids... I hopefully am at least 15-20 years away from being a grand-parent.

Recently a kid that used to work for me while he was going to school; called me to tell me that his 14 year old daughter just had a baby and he is a grandfather at 28 years old..

YES 28 years old, he had his first kid @ 14 and his 14 year old had her first kid.

Now luckily he and his kids mother have been married for 10 years, they have 3 kids, and have been together since he was 14 and she was 16, so they have a "good" family enviroment..

but damn, not even 30 and a grand-parent.

I never knew my grand-parents, my father was in his 50s when I was born and mom in her 40s and both sets of grand-parents had passed on before I was 5, my father never got to meet my daughter because he had passed on 4 years before she was born, as had both my wifes parents, luckily my mother is still around and only 1 mile away from us..
