Your right about the need of having common interests. I grew up at car shows and around dirt circle track racing. My 19 year old cousin has been racing Northern Sport Mods for 3 years, the race season goes from March to October. She is a socialite partying type that likes to cut loose and I'm the garage dweller more interested in doing something constructive with my time. She went to a few races with me, but she wasn't much into it. She absolutely hated demolition derbying, but I had retired from it before I met her (at age 28 my back said enough.) I tried my best to make it work, she didn't try all that much. Her boys and I, going to cars shows, and going racing was a great bonding time. The things I was able to expose them to are things they would of never been apart of otherwise. I miss the boys way more Than I miss her. I just hope those 3 years the boys had with me made a positive difference that they will remember the rest of their lives.

I bet that it did and one day they may as well run in to you somewhere , and they will tell you , that was fun , thank you , assuming that she didn't poising their young minds .
