Well, I wouldn't have reacted like that (trying to avoid the guy).
I would've slowed down, took it from there, and called authorities.
If I was in the position where dude was running me down, tailgating, i would have safely exited my vehicle, drew my weapon and ordered him to back away, i'm dialing 911.
