I agree Bautista's performance was less than stellar. His striking defense fell apart, and he lacks the basics of the ground game.
That said, I respect the man for a lot of reasons.
1. He is in his 40's and stepping into an MMA bout. That is no easy task. Not everyone is Randy Couture.
2. He admitted he was very nervous and wasn't sure how he would react to being hit. It clearly threw him off a bit, but he weathered the storm and got the W via finish over an experienced opponent. Can't ask for more than that.
3. Going back to points 1 and 2 a bit - He fully admits he will never be a world champion. He respects the sport and wanted to try it out. He went through an 8 week camp with some legitimate MMA contenders, and competed.

Well said.. He looks uncomfortable but with time he has the potential be good at this sport. But he does need all around work
