That would be hard to do. I think it's fair to say that one of our problems in America today is the frivolous law suits that are held up. Or the frivolous AMOUNTS of awarded rulings.
Don't get me wrong, I'd certainly want something done but not 2m.

My whole thing is, this mans rights were violated. Being arrested on erroneous charges just because the dealership claimed he stole something, that's pretty bad. Perhaps the police station shares some of that blame for not looking into the situation fully before arresting the poor guy, but either way someone needs to get slapped with a big fine (in this case, it takes the form of a lawsuit) to make it clear that this kind of thing is not to be tolerated in our society.
