Sales volume hasn't fallen off all that much since 2008, so it might very well be market pricing, but sales aren't as strong as they were in '08 and '09. But strong initial sales is fairly normal for most low-volume performance cars.

I always thought Nissan was selling them at a loss in '08 and '09. And I think Nissan decided that if dealers were going to jack the price up, they might as well make sure it's Nissan Motors and not the dealer reaping the rewards. Maybe it was always the plan to use dealer mark-up as a gauge of how much to jack up MSRP. I just hope it doesnt end up like the 300ZX, 3000GT, RX7, etc...
