I wasn't presenting them as strawmen, I was trying to illustrate to you how can lose more freedoms under the guise of public safety.
Look guys, I'm not trying to 'win' an argument. I don't want to hear people saying I'm right for my own personal aggrandizement. What my goal is to warn you that you might want to consider what other rights we could lose under the guise of public safety. ALOT of rights can be lost that way. I was pointing out some we have lost (like food choices), and was using YOUR arguments to show how something like guns could be banned under that same reasoning.
There are people in power who think the cars we love are a danger to society just by being on the road. We actually had a VP who said the internal combustion engine is the greatest threat to the planet.
I dont want to see the cars I love one day banned. And if they are banned it will be under the guise of public safety, mark my words. So I'm trying to get you to see you are asking for trouble when you allow 'minor' rights to be taken away that you dont care about. Once they can take away minor rights, what's stopping them from taking away bigger rights you actually care for if they use the same reasoning they used to get rid of the minor rights?
