As far as being over paid, an owner has the obligation to put out a quality product or your business will suffer by going with cheap imitations. Agreed. And the whole REASON this is happening is that the NFL wanted (and still wants) better officiating. The reason we are here is because fans have been crying for better refs for years.
Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. But what is now happening is what should happen. If NFL wants to be able to take a ref out if he's under performing. And so be it. They come up with a deal.
But I gaurantee you the refs will be striking sooner than later. They just need to get their foot in the door. And they just did.
