Xbox 360 is also backwards compatible.... and it must be the games he plays because ive never heard of buying "minutes" to play xbox live. I do agree with batteries not lasting long though... the rechargable ones after a year generally only last a couple days before they need to be charged.

I only have xbox 360, not PS3. I do see PS3 as a "superior" system to the 360, but i like the xbox controllers better, online play better, and games better (such as halo games) So i prefer xbox.
