They used Ohlins shocks , at the time a very high end shock and still very good today.Also one of the lightest and stongest frames ever for ATV's.
The Transmission is a cartridge type trans so no case splitting to remove.
The trans is very strong ,I've never had an issue with one.
Also the engine oil tank is in the two frame side spars.A great idea until you munch an engine and spew metal into the frame,then its a PITA to clean.
