Good Sunday Morning Gang. And another beautiful one it is here. Today I meet with my sisters to discuss the selling of daddy's beloved GMC truck and having the land re-surveyed to prepare to sell the house & land. It is really sad to see this this happen. Daddy loved that truck sooooooooo much and the little mini farm was so much a part of all of our lives. We grew a huge garden every year with everythig you can think of including popcorn, peanuts, Strawberries (which we also sold to Kroger grocery stores), watermellon, cantaloupe and all sorts of vegetables. We froze/canned vegetables for winter & made jellies, jams, tomato juice.........lots of things like that. We grew crops of corn, wheat, hay, soybeans & tobacco. We had chickens & pigs. On my grandad's farm we had cows. We had a smokehouse & made our own smoked sausage, country hams/sholders, bacon, etc. We hardly had to shop for groceries. Man, I miss all of that (except for working in the tobacco & strawberry crops - that part was no fun but it built character). So, it is very sad to see it all go, but...............it is time. Daddy is getting gradually worse. Last week he got so confused & belligerant, my sister had to have him sedated. We don't need to be spending his $ for paying taxes & upkeep on all this stuff.
